Victorian Mahogany Oval Tilt-Top Occasional Table on Tripod Base
An intriguing small Victorian piece in very good condition, with a finely-grained oval top that has formed edges, on bearers on tapering hexagonal stem on an unusual, heavily-moulded box base with musket ball embellishment, on a tripod base of squat cabriole legs with club feet, this singular occasional table will charm in any elegantly appointed home, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style and is sure to attract the flattering attention of your guests.
Top Length 82.5cm x Width 57.5cm (32.5" x 22.75")
Height with Top Down 68.5cm (27") & O/All Height with Top Up 117.5cm (46.25")
This is probably a mid Victorian piece from around 1850-70, so you may expect the mature character & patina that only develops with considerable age but, now professionally & sympathetically restored, it's in very good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.
NB: The handle of the catch that secures the top in its lowered position is broken but this does not impact upon the effective operation of the catch.
