Late 19thC Stained & Ebonised Oak or Elm Child's Correction Chair with Later Upholstery to Seat
A modest late Victorian piece with just a hint of both the Arts & Crafts and Aesthetic Movements, in good condition, of oak or possibly elm, dark-stained throughout, with bar back and little turned & ebonised spindles beneath an arched top rail, on ring-turned supports that morph into boldly swept rear legs, having an upholstered seat covered in a velour fabric with geometric design in autumnal browns & gold, trimmed with a brown braid, on turned & tapering front legs united by mirror-turned double stretchers, in contrast to the plain stretchers to side & rear, this charming child's correction chair will delight in any tastefully-appointed home, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style.
O/All Width 35cm x Depth 45cm (13.75" x 17.75")
Height to Centre of Back 85cm (33.5") & Height to Seat 53cm (21")
This is a late Victorian chair, so expect the mature character that only comes with considerable age and a little light wear & tear commensurate with normal use but, otherwise, it's in good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.
