Mid Victorian Burr Walnut Veneered Canterbury What-Not with Single Drawer
A fine example of a Victorian Canterbury What-Not, dating from around 1860-80 and in very good condition, with burr walnut veneered top, thumb-moulded edges and rounded corners, a three-quarter fretwork gallery of botanical scrollwork with arched tops, on impressive barley twist supports, terminating in spinning top finials, with a 3 compartment magazine or sheet music rack of spindle supported dividers and surrounded by elaborate botanical fretwork screens, over a figured cabinet, incorporating a single, full-width drawer with turned handles, on mushroom-turned feet with the original brass cups & casters, this first quality piece will impress in the most elegant of homes, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style, fully-deserving of the admiring attention it will certainly attract.
Width 86.5cm x Depth 39cm (34" x c15.25") & O/All Height 94.5cm (37.25")
Height to Top 86cm (c34") & Height to Top of Canterbury Frame c48cm (c19")
This piece dates from around 1860-80, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with minor wear & tear commensurate with normal use, including a small loss to the veneer on the top but, in all other respects, it's in very good, clean & sound condition, ready to use in your home.
