Early 20thC Art Nouveau Style Mahogany Music Cabinet by Maple & Co.
A first quality mahogany piece from a leading maker, dating from 1906-12 and in very good condition, with serpentine tray-top, inset with an oval brass commemorative plate relating to the retirement in 1912, after 46 years service on the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway, of Mr H S Starnes, supported on organic posts & brackets, over a 5-drawer chest, each drawer-front satinwood cross-banded & ebony strung, with drop-handles and naturalistic copper plates, opening on Stones Patent drop-hinges, the cabinet with panelled sides & back and with the maker's brass plaque, all on moulded cabriole legs, this exceptional sheet music or document chest will impress in the most elegant of reception rooms, whether period-furnished or more contemporary in style, fully-deserving of the flattering attention it will undoubtedly attract.
