George III or Regency Mahogany Fold-Over Top Card Table
A fine mahogany period piece from around 1760-1820 but in excellent condition for its age, with a lovely D-shaped and figured top having reeded edges, over a plain frieze with reeded moulding to the lower edge and interrupted by plain block pilasters above slender ring-turned and tapering legs & feet, the rear legs hinged to support the fold-over top, dressed with green baize for gaming, this classically elegant Georgian card table is remarkable for its condition and will impress in any stylish home, whether used simply as a formal side table or opened for when the bridge school meets, fully-deserving of the admiring attention it will undoubtedly attract.
Width when Closed 90.5cm x Depth 44.5cm (35.75" x 17.5") & Height 74cm (29.25")
Width when Open 89cm x 90.5cm (35" x 35.75") & Height 71.5cm (28.25")
This is a late 18thC or early 19thC piece, so you may expect the mature character & patina of great age but, barring some splitting of the veneer on the R/H front of the frieze and the very slight bowing of the top, it's in excellent, clean & sound condition and ready to use in your home.
