A great late Victorian walnut piece, possibly French, comprising the superstructure from a grand sideboard or serving cabinet, with substantial reeded pilasters and support brackets with scrolled side buttresses, bearing two graduated shelves with panelled backs and monumental pediment with botanical scrolls, a scallop shell to the centre and large armorial sheaf to the top, this magnificent backboard will impress as a wall-hung set piece in any reception hall or function room, or restored to its original place over a serving table, more than justifying the admiring attention it will undoubtedly attract.

This piece dates from around 1890, so you may expect the mature character & patina of age, together with wear & tear commensurate with normal use but, barring signs of old woodworm to the rear, it's in very good, clean & sound condition and ready to use.

NB: Whenever I acquire pieces that have signs of woodworm, even though they may be historical, as in this case, I always treat this, in order to provide additional reassurance to my Customer.
